Fanny und Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy:
Various a cappella works
- Berliner Oratorien-Chor
- Conductor Thomas Hennig
This weekend, nine Berlin choirs will fill the extraordinary spaces of the museum with sound. In a total of 40 short concerts, spread throughout the building, voices will interact with the architecture and collections from around the world, opening up new perspectives. The programme features classical music as well as jazz-pop, queer and feminist ensembles, alongside choral music with Arabic, Bulgarian, African and Latin American songs.
A particular highlight of the festival is the joint performance by all the choirs in the Grand Foyer. More than 200 voices fill the impressive architecture of the space twice a day, creating an unforgettable experience that brings singers and audience alike together. To mark the 125th anniversary of the Berlin Choral Association, the choirs from previous Vielstimmig festivals have also been invited to join in singing the songs together in the Grand Foyer. We are delighted that three further choirs are once again taking part in Vielstimmig.
Furthermore, visitors are warmly invited to get involved themselves: open workshops in the Mechanical Arena offer the opportunity to try out your own voice and sing together.
For the third time, the Humboldt Forum, in cooperation with the Berlin Choral Association, is hosting Vielstimmig. The 2026 festival is themed around the Humboldt Forum’s annual theme, ‘Relationships and Family’.
Vielstimmig III is part of the programme marking the 125th anniversary of the Berlin Choral Association.
