Rosa, welcome to the BOC. Where does your interest in music and especially choral singing come from?
Rosa: As far back as I can remember, I’ve been singing all my life. It started with singing songs together on long car journeys with my mum, singing in the school choir and performing at music festivals. Singing Christmas carols together was also always something special for me. As a teenager, between the ages of 15 and 17, I received voice training and had the opportunity to develop my voice further. Unfortunately, singing took a back seat after I finished school. But after moving to Berlin, I felt a strong desire to sing with others again.
How did you find out about the BOC and what brought you to the BOC?
Rosa: My best friend Lena, who I already knew from Vienna, was also looking for a choir and received a referral contact. In January 2022, I went to a BOC rehearsal with her and I’ve been a member ever since. As singing has always had a social component for me, it was a great pleasure to meet lots of new faces in a new choir.
What do you particularly remember about being in the BOC?
Rosa: The choir camps are always a highlight for me, especially the first trip to Neuruppin. Spending time with the other choir members was a wonderful opportunity to make new friends outside of the regular rehearsals.
How was your first concert with the BOC?
Rosa: My first concert was in autumn 2022, the project “The Women Composers”. I didn’t know Lili Boulanger’s music beforehand, but since then I’ve always enjoyed listening to her works.
Why should interested people join the BOC and what could be a good slogan for the BOC?
Rosa: For me, the greatest motivation is the community that the BOC offers. The choir makes me feel even more at home in Berlin because I’ve been so warmly welcomed here. The dialogue and togetherness are so valuable that you feel like you’re part of a big family. A possible slogan for the BOC could be: “Singing together, growing together.”
