Anniversary concert with Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass, Brahms’ Nänie and Hennig’s Ghasele (world premiere)
On 29 September 2024, the Berlin Oratorio Choir (BOC) will perform Brahms’ Nänie and Triumphlied, Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass and the world premiere of Ghasele by Thomas Hennig at 6 pm in the Konzerthaus Berlin, marking another programmatic highlight in its anniversary year. Performers include Vanessa Lindsay Lanch (soprano), Gundula Hintz (alto), Hans-Georg Priese (tenor), Ralf Lukas (bass), the Berlin Oratorio Choir, Daniel Seeger (organ) and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Tickets from 19 euros (concessions 10 euros) are already on sale.

Ludwig van Beethoven: Missa solemnis (in historical performance practice with Concerto Brandenburg)
In its anniversary year, the Berliner Oratorien-Chor will kick off the season on 19 May 2024 at 3 pm in the Berlin Philharmonie with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Missa solemnis in historically informed performance practice. Performers include Concerto Brandenburg, the Konzertchor Schlachtensee and soloists Flurina Stucki (soprano), Rita Kapfhammer (alto), Ludwig Obst (tenor) and Haakon Schaub (bass). Thomas Hennig, musical director and composer of many years’ standing, will be conducting. This concert is funded by the LOTTO Foundation Berlin. Tickets from 20 euros (students 10 euros) are already on sale.

Another highlight will follow on September 29, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the Konzerthaus Berlin with Brahms’ Nänie and Triumphlied, Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass and the world premiere of Ghasele by Thomas Hennig, a work commissioned for the anniversary. The BOC will be accompanied by the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. The choir will conclude the anniversary year with a Christmas concert on December 15, 2024 at 4 p.m. in the Evangelische Auenkirche in Wilmersdorf, featuring “Die Geburt Christi” by Heinrich von Herzogenberg.

In the fall of 2020, the Berliner Oratorien-Chor will be performing rarely heard choral works by Richard Strauss and Walter Braunfels, including the world premiere of “Besinnung”, a work begun by Strauss but only finished in 2020.

À l’automne 2020, le Berliner Oratorien-Chor va faire revivre des oeuvres pour choeur de Richard Strauss et Walter Braunfels rarement représentées. En outre, l’oeuvre commencée par Strauss et maintenant terminée « Besinnung » (« Recueillement ») connaitra sa première mondiale.

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s adaptation of Bach’s St Matthew Passion made music history. On March 11th, 2020, exactly 191 years later, the Berlin Oratorien-Chor will be reconstructing the legendary event at the Berliner Konzerthaus.
